In accordance with mining regulations. Unfortunately, these regulation standards have not been studied extensively and Avoided to a larger degree. These standards and regulations are simply met by reducing the amount or percentage bitumen in the product and adding water or eco-friendly co-polymers to the delivered product, which is then just applied at higher dosages on site. The facts are simple: Emulsified bitumen is a petrochemical based product which is ecotoxic, and is not water soluble.
We trust that Biotar will change the industry due to the product producing similar, if not better waterproof haul roads while keeping our fresh water resources safe from contamination.
Although Lermont also supplies a Bitumen based product called Bitulane, we do not recommend the product to be used where water runoff is not contained.
How Biotar is applied on roads
Biotar, and our other road dust control products are simply applied by mixing the product into a water bowser with water at a certain dosage ratio via a dosing station (Optionally supplied by Lermont) which applies the exact amount of product to the specific sizes of water bowsers by simply pressing a designated button.
During the first couple of days, a Pre-Treatment/Initial higher dosage is applied to new roads (Previously untreated roads) in order to stabilise the road base and surface/sealing layer, which then becomes water-resistant with continuous maintenance applications once to two times per week thereafter. Water resistant within a week of initial application.
Various initial road construction methods are used with the initial applications, depending on the road construction equipment available on site. All our products have been developed in order to build the road base with minimal labour and equipment required. Our products allow us to approach our road building methodology by utilising available resources and machinery on site by simply adjusting the application rate and frequency of applications in relation to available machinery.
Biotar and Dustalane were developed to penetrate deep within the road surface without mechanical assistance.
